1. School Workers Club

The Schoolworkers' Club of the CPEPA and DE is a group of education workers--some working, some retired, who meet every two weeks to

  • discuss theoretical polictical issues related to our work.
  • discuss concrete issues and problems confronting public education.
  • plan actions and activities that will advance the cause of quality education for all students.
Our primary concerns are:
  • fighting for adequate full funding of public education, especially in urban and rural school districts which have traditionally been underfunded.
  • fighting to end racism and its effects in education and to promote desegregated, integrated education at a time when statistics show that increasing numbers of students are attending schools that are racially segregated.
  • actively struggling and organizing for struggle on broader social matters that impact on our students, their families and on education workers and their families.
We have been active in the anti-war movement and and attempts to force the Administration in Washington to follow a more humane foreign policy.

We have social events and open meetings and welcome input from people interested in the issues that concern us. You can contact us at bikerbenn@aol.com.

2. Northwest Club

The Northwest Club of the Communist Party has a multinational membership mainly from the Germantown and Mount Airy neighborhoods. It also has members from many other Phialdelphia and suburban communities where currently no Communist Party clubs exist. It is our goal through the activities of our comrades in peace, healthcare, trade union and other organizations combined with our District Party building efforts, that several community clubs will be formed.

Members of the Club are active in and hold leadership positions in many organizations including community associations, peace organizations, and a healthcare coalition. The club also functions as an open visible entity distributing leaflets and petitions opposing the war on Iraq, privatization of the public schools, regressive taxes, etc. We conduct voter registration campaigns on street corners and participate in a community fair, Mount Airy Day.

As activists the Northwest Club gives us the opportunity to understand how our everyday lives and activities are related to the struggle for democracy and our ideal goal of socialism.

We meet every two weeks on Wednesday evenings and all of our meetings are open. You are welcome to come and check us out. Who better to tell you what communists believe other than communists.
